That relationship was mined quite a bit in the past, so hopefully Hopeless will bring something new to the table. Cable has become almost synonymous with Hope Summers, and you can bet you’ll see a healthy dose of her. As for what that code will be, we don’t know yet, but given what Cable does at the end of that scene, it’s clear it won’t be pretty. Havok’s relationship to Cable makes it personal, and Cable’s reaction to his uncle’s words makes it clear that Cable and X-Force will be a book that plays by a different code. It’s cool how Dennis Hopeless immediately sets the tone for this book by putting Cable and his team at odds with the cast of Remender’s Uncanny Avengers. Sure, comics are allowed to convey information over an extended period of time without showing their hand up front, but if a writer is going to go that route, then the first chapter should be a lot more engaging than this one. This one features Cable and an unclearly defined team that has come together for an unclearly defined purpose. Thanks to Rick Remender’s success on Uncanny X-Force, we now have two books using that team name to fight evil off the beaten path.
